Okay, imagine this: I'm scrolling through Netflix, right? Avoiding all my responsibilities, as one does. And BAM! There it is. God of Highschool. Again. But this time, it says "Saison 2". My inner fanboy (yes, I have one, don't judge) did a little jig. I mean, we waited long enough, didn't we? You know, kind of like waiting for the next season of Attack on Titan! (Don't even get me started.)
So, naturally, I dived in headfirst. And the question burning in everyone’s mind (probably yours too, right? Admit it!): is it worth the hype? That, my friends, is what we're gonna unpack.
The Long-Awaited Return: Hype or Letdown?
Let’s be honest, the first season of God of Highschool was... divisive. Amazing animation, courtesy of MAPPA (the Attack on Titan people, remember?), absolutely bonkers fight scenes, and a plot that was… well, let's just say it escalated quickly. From high school tournament to cosmic deities battling it out in a matter of episodes! But Season 2? The million-dollar question is if it can deliver on the promise (or the potential) that season 1 showed.
Spoiler alert: I'm not going to give away any major plot points here. I'm not that kind of person. You can thank me later.
One thing is for sure: the animation quality is still absolutely top-notch. MAPPA didn’t skimp out. The fight choreography remains as fluid and dynamic as ever. Seriously, the animation is worth watching alone. Especially if you like the "punch first, ask questions later" kind of action. You know, the kind that makes you wanna jump up and start throwing air punches?

But what about the story? Ah, the story. This is where things get... complicated. Season 1 introduced a lot of concepts, deities, borrowed power and other elements. Season 2 dives even deeper into the mythology. Think ancient gods, forbidden powers, and conspiracies that go way beyond a simple high school tournament.
Personally, I found the increased focus on the lore to be a welcome change. It gives the characters more depth and context. But I can see how some might find it overwhelming. It asks you to pay attention, to remember things. Not always easy when you're trying to unwind after a long day, right?

Verdict: To Watch or Not To Watch?
So, should you watch God of Highschool Season 2? If you enjoyed the first season and you're looking for more over-the-top action and a story that goes completely off the rails, then absolutely. This season doubles down on everything that made the first season memorable (for better or for worse).
However, if you were hoping for a more grounded and coherent narrative, you might be disappointed. This is not Attack on Titan. Sorry to burst your bubble. It's big, bold, and unapologetically chaotic. It's the anime equivalent of a rollercoaster that's missing a few safety bars. But hey, isn’t that part of the fun?
In the end, God of Highschool Season 2 is a visual spectacle that's sure to entertain. Just be prepared to embrace the madness and go along for the ride. And maybe keep a notepad handy to keep track of all the gods and their powers. You might need it. Happy watching!
